Microsoft have set the default search engine for Internet Explorer 11 to Bing. If you try to change it by using the Search Providers add-on you get taken to http://www.iegallery.com/gb/searchproviders which no longer exists and you get a 404 not found error – thanks Microsoft! Thankfully there’s another easy way to start using Google search by default.

1) Open Internet Explorer and go to  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/iegallery

2) Scroll down the list until you see “Google Search” and click “Add >”

IE11_Google1

3) You’ll now see a message “Do you want to add this search provider?” Make sure the option for “Use search suggestions from this provider” is ticked and click “Add”

4) To change the search provider from the search bar at the top, click the down arrow to the right of the magnifying glass symbol. you’ll then see the magnifying glass and the Google icon, now click the google icon.

IE11_Google3

5) That’s it – you’re good to go!
